Overview

For over a century, the Jungfrau Railway has made its way to one of Europe's highest railway stations, sitting at an altitude of 3,454 meters above sea level. Located at the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage site "Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch," this iconic journey continues to captivate visitors year-round. The railway climbs steeply through a tunnel, traveling from Kleine Scheidegg towards the Jungfraujoch summit. The tunnel that leads up from Eigergletscher Station is an engineering marvel, stretching 7 kilometers and built between 1896 and 1912. As the train passes through, you can enjoy remarkable views of the majestic glacier landscape, especially through windows located in the Eiger North Face. When you reach the summit, you're welcomed into a stunning alpine wonderland made up of ice, snow, and rocks. From the "Sphinx" and "Plateau" viewing platforms, visitors can take in sweeping views of the Aletsch Glacier. Another highlight is the "Ice Palace," a magical space carved into the glacier with intricate ice sculptures and tunnels to explore. The opening of the "Eiger Express" in December 2020 further revolutionized access to the Jungfraujoch. Now, visitors can complete the journey from Interlaken in just 90 minutes. From Grindelwald, a 3S cable car swiftly transports you to the Eigergletscher station in just 15 minutes, before connecting to the Jungfrau Railway for the final stretch to the top. Highlights: Ice Palace: A magical world of ice sculptures and tunnels to explore. Sphinx Platform: Offers panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks and the vast Aletsch Glacier. Eternal Snow Walks: Enjoy a walk across the permanent snow and ice.
